(CNN Español) - La edad promedio de los habitantes de Estados Unidos sigue aumentando y cada vez hay más población asiática e hispana. Así lo reveló la Oficina del Censo de Estados Unidos este jueves en un nuevo reporte.

"El perfil demográfico de nuestro país está envejeciendo y es muy diferente a lo que era hace dos décadas. Realmente se ve el impacto de los 'baby boomers' o las personas que nacieron entre 1946 y 1964 en los Estados Unidos, que empezaron a cumplir 65 años de edad empezando en el año 2011", afirma Kevin Barragan, demógrafo.

"La edad media nacional aumento de 35,3 en el 2000 a 37,9 en julio de 2016. Puede no ser muy significativo, pero hubo un aumento de 14,2 millones de personas en el país de 65 años de edad o más entre el año 2000 a 2016 que representa un 15,2 por ciento de la población", añade.
