(CNN) - En el centro de Río de Janeiro dos hombres pintan un grafitti en un edificio industrial en la mitad del día. No están vandalizando la ciudad, sino embelleciéndola como parte de la preparación para los Juegos Olímpicos que comienzan este 5 de agosto.

Este enorme grafitti que mostrará los rostros de los indígenas del mundo en los colores del arco iris es el trabajo del artista callejero Eduardo Kobra. Tomará 40 días, 3.000 latas de pintura en spray y más de 200 galones de pintura líquida. Cuando esté terminado medirá 3.000 metros cuadrados, el mural más grande de Brasil.

Esa es apenas una de las transformaciones que atravesó Río en preparación para las justas. No sólo se construyeron escenarios deportivos y facilidades de alojamiento para los atletas, sino que algunas de las zonas más representativas de la ciudad recibieron una renovación.

Uno de los asuntos claves acerca de los Juegos es cuánto de este mejoramiento realmente impactará la vida de los brasileños tras los Olímpicos. Pero no todos creen que el dinero se ha gastado bien.
